Someone dropped off a starved almost dead cockeral *update

He's had a bath now and some feather trimming
he keeps trying to talk, but it seems so far we have a silent bird..every once in a while me manages a small squeak but it's barely audible
Once the weather clears up I'm gonna bring him outside and let him run around in the grass with us, away from my other birds of course, I reckon it's a good thing we've got like 42acres
Anyway here's some more pics I just took of him

But look at the earlobes. They are red. Leghorns have white earlobes.

I'm just glad Lucky is getting some energy and color back. I'll try worming him once he's got some more energy and we'll try getting some grit in him once the feed store opens tomorrow. I dunno why they're closed on sundays, but most everything else is around here too, darn bible belt.

There's no way I could give up that chicken after nursing it back. It would be a pet for life...meat bird or not.

I have to agree with the others-it totally looks like a pullet to me-I had to re-read title because you said cockeral--great job on your part-its a good thing this world has people like us around to pick up deadbeats slack!!!

i have plenty of leghorns to know that that is female and a leghorn those feet scream leghorn.
