Someone dropped off a starved almost dead cockeral *update

Hey yall, sorry it has been so long since I've visited the site, things have just been rather hectic around here for a while. Thought I'd let ya know about Lucky. He was making an ok recovery but in the end he was too weak and too far gone and passed away

I took him to the vet to find out what killed him, in case it was some sort of illness. It turns out he had some serious liver/kidney damage from being dehydrated for too long and that's what did it. And yes he was a HE. Thanks all for your concerns and help when we were going through this. And Thank you mods for not locking this before I finally had a chance to slow down and get back on BYC to update it.

Thanks for the update. A others have said, at least he had affection, companionship and plenty of food before you lost him.

That quote about how society treats their animals is from Mahatma Ghandi -
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated"

Be proud of your efforts

Thanks yall. I really appreciate everything. I wish they would've dropped him off here sooner than they did at the very least, maybe I would've had a chance at saving him. He was a little sweetheart.. and he liked watching tv lol There towards the end I think one of my RIR hens was concerned because she would climb up the stairs and would cluck at him from the other side of the sliding glass door on my porch. I'm sure it was some sort of ingrained maternal instinct because now she's broody and sitting on 9 eggs in a crate in my bathroom. (had to move her inside because she made a nest in the pampas grass and we've been having issues with a bear running around our house at night)
