Rooster dropping head and constantly swallowing

Trichinosis is a disease from undercooked pork. Trich or trichomoniasis is canker, a protozoan disease that affects poultry, which is what you were looking for. Just from posts I have seen here, a lot of the time, the best and sometime ps cheapest way to get a diagnosis is through your state vet after a necropsy unfortunately.
Sorry, that my auto correction when I misspell.
I will do some research to find out how to get my chicken tests and necropsy for my flock.

What I have learned from this experience with my dear rooster is that:
Take note of any change of condition of my flock
Do more research, go on BCF for more information and ask for help,
Treat at home, one treatment at a time, wait for result before advance further. Be patient
I have Meloxicam, and CBD oil, these will keep my chickens comfortable.
Last resource, when all else failed, find a Vet that treat chickens regularly and go from there. From my personal experience with Avian Vet, I would give them a pass unless they are the last resource, but then they will tell me what I already been told by many sources.
I'm so sorry to hear about your rooster. I think your lessons learned are spot on.

I don't know why true avian vets are difficult to find if not non-existent. They stand to make a ton of money from chicken owners who have to serve as their own vet, relying on the good folks on this website to assist and walk us through various protocols to try and help our birds. I'm grateful for BYC and the experts here.

Sending hugs for your grief. :hugs

I received a replied from Agriculture department laboratory that they do provide service for testing illness in chicken, but it has to come from the Vet office. I looked at their price list, the most expensive fee testing item on this price list is $144.

My Vet told me to send off for testing Coryza is $250-$300. So it must be including their fee for preparing and sending off the test.
