Muscovys take 35 days to hatch. They need lots of humidity, more then chicken eggs. If you google Muscovy you should find lots of info. Mine know my voice, make sure you talk to them lots. Good luck.

The Muscovies original name was "Musco Duck", because it is known as the "Mosquito Duck", for eating Mosquitoes.
The Russian Muscovites were one of the first to import them. One of the main reasons they were brought here several hundred years ago, is to help keep down the mosquito and bug population, and that they do, and do it well. There are billions of insects on a acre of land, and the muscovy ducks are worth their weight in gold at eating mosquitos and insects. They eat the mosquito larva right in the water, and they nip in the air and eat the ones flying around. They love roaches and eat them like they are candy, they eat flies, and maggots and do a lot to keep down the fly population. They even eat those rolly pollies that you find under rocks and all around the outside of your house. They have a bad taste, and most birds won't even eat them, the Muscovies are one of the few things that will eat them. I have even seen them eat ants, they eat every bug they see. They are also excellent weed eaters, they love weeds! I have also seen Muscovies eat MICE! One of my cats stirred up a mouse nest & the hens were over in it, fighting over the baby mice!

The Muscovies are quiet, as a matter of fact, they are about the quietest duck there is. They do not quack, but they do make a variety of hissing sounds, as well as squeeka

The hens are EXCELLENT layers of large (edible) eggs, especially in spring, and will very broody, wonderful setters! One of my females hatched out 12 chicken eggs & then 15 of her own eggs within a few weeks!

Baby ducklings are creamy white to light yellow with shades of black or brown on them. They imprint very easily to people & are very friendly.

Thank you so much for the info. I am looking at eggs on ebay. I just have to figure out how to get the bator up to that high of humidity. We have a terrible mosquito population so these guys will love it

I'm just going to correct some Muscovy history. They got their names from The Muscovties, they were traders I think that did import the ducks into other parts of the world. They are from Brazil, and their are wild Muscovys there, they aren't quite the same, colour wise, but they have been moving north. There are now feral populations in Florida where some poeple see them as pests. They are very popular in France right now as beings they are from the tropics, they do not pack on the fat like Mallard deprived breeds. They can withstand cold weather ok, as long as its not too cold.
