I have always thought this is the stupidest thing to do.......
You don't give a fly honey, you crush the stupid little thing with a rolled up newspaper. (Although I don't recommend it, I think the neighbor needs hit with a rolled up newspaper too!)
We're pricing privacy fences, but just starting with Lowes it will cost at least $3,200! We definitely don't have that kind of money, and I'm not comfortable putting that much on a credit card. We don't normally carry any balances on our cards. I should start a paypal donation account.
(Totally kidding.) We could get it put up cheaper elsewhere, but Lowes offers no interest for 12 months financing...Home Depot is coming out to do a free estimate on the 14th.
*sigh* Why is this happening to me??
How about using tree posts with a roll of welded wired fence. I hated the idea of using it and then i went to my cousins for easter and her husband had taken cedar trees he cut down and used as posts and then used a roll of welded wire fencing, it looked fabulous, cheap alternative to stockade or picket.
These complainers sound like they have too much time on their hands.........................
Sorry for all your troubles, I have been reading this from the start and can't believe they started up again

Look on Craigslist in the free section. Of course I always miss them, but I always find someone taking down a fence or replacing a fence. You could paint or stain them and get a fence up for free.
I don't know who it is doing the complaining or I would gladly talk to them...at least, I would send my DH to talk to them and he is a lot more fed up than I am! (I have a tendency to be nice and polite to everyone and I cant stop myself, lol.)
We did determine that it wasn't the new next door neighbor. I think I posted that somewhere in this huge thread. She's really, really nice. The other neighbors that we suspected have since moved away. The mystery continues!
The only clue we have as to who is complaining is that it's one direction down the street. The code enforcer guy said it was a house "down there" when he was here last year, but he couldn't remember the exact address and couldn't say who anyway. He also mentioned that with their very first complaint they got our address wrong.
Then an elderly neighbor across the street told us that a neighbor, he didn't want to say who, was trying to get him to join in and complain about our chickens but he refused because first of all he can't see/hear/smell them and second of all he likes chickens and the eggs we give him. (This took place with the first round of complaints also, not yesterday.)
So it's not a direct neighbor complaining, it's apparently someone down the street...which is odd because you can't even see into our yard from down there due to a tree line. You might catch a small glimpse, but not easily. Whoever was complaining last time watched so closely that they listed the times we let the chickens out everyday. That's creepy.
I am SO frustrated that it's starting up again!
My DH is supposed to talk to the code enforcer today, since I didn't answer the door yesterday when he came. I'll let you all know what he says.
Andora,
Sorry to hear you are still having problems. I'm now in the same boat - seems my neighbor is ticked off at me so I'm dealing with building inspectors. I have asked twice now for proof I have violated an ordinance.
