I agree with Seahen, I don't see anything wrong with defending your property. I wouldn't kill anyone but I sure would try to get my point across. No fooling around. And then I would call the police.

Please be careful, it is one thing to kill a chicken for food. To kill for enjoyment is sick.

If you do find out it's a child that has done this they really need serious help. If it's an adult they're probably beyond help, and really, what will be their punishment for killing a chicken?

Sorry to hear about that Robo. I have padlocks on my runs because I don't trust teenagers. A neighbor kid got a BB gun and I was a nervous wreck, but so far so good and no birds have died from suspicious injuries.

Hopefully the culprit won't be back.

killing animals? sexual predator? does this mean that because i hunt or kill livestock im a sexual predator. I just erased a whole lot of rant. I find this comment offensive

Well said, and I'm sure this is what was intended by the comment, though it was not specified. We process for food here, I was aware of this link between killing animals for fun and serial killers, and took no offense. I did not even catch this omission ("for fun") the first read-through.
