I also heard about the one in Minnesota. It is very distressing. Please keep the cages locked at all times when the judge isnt right there. I hope they catch the perp.

I am sorry for your loss and hope she is returned safely to you. As others have said this is happening with greater frequency at shows all across the country. I don't know how many times I have seen parents let their children wander unattended through exhibits. And then when an exhibitor or security stops them from opening cages and walking away the parents get upset. I have seen parents let their brats stick fingers in Rabbit cages, Pigeon holes and when their little darling gets bit or pecked, they raise a fuss. Even with warning signs stating to keep fingers out of the cage.

And yes there are still some people out there that will steal anything if they think they can sell it for ready cash. Or steal a prize winning bird to add to their mediocre flock in hopes to produce a winner.

It may cost some postage, but the show secretary should have a mailing list of all the exhibitors. You can try and contact them by sending them a letter asking them to check the birds they brought home from the show. Also if the show has a website and/or newsletter ask them to post a notice of the missing bird on it.

Good Luck!

That's just disgusting. This world is so sickening. Now people are stealing chickens! People will do anything for money. Or to get something that someone else has, either that or they throw a fit like a two year old. That's what they are. Disturbed, irrtating children.

I've never showed poultry before and I'll be starting this June at our County fair. It's no big deal but I've already heard enough to have my fears confirmed that this can happen. Regardless of what everyone around me says, I'll be bringing a combination lock just in case. My babies won't be great quality, this being a fair, not a show, but they are very important to me.

I'll be hoping your baby finds her way home to you. I'll carry the words onto friends and try to prevent this in the future. I really hope this all pulls through for you.
