Yuk I’m still chugging along. Going on 1am my time. Like the poet said, miles to go before I sleep.

You don’t have to do that. I’m trying to make one more big push so I can get out of here around 2am. I’m about 3 steps away from answering a week’s worth of emails. Once that’s done, I’m home free until Wednesday.

But the weather is hot and muggy. Typical Florida weather going into the dog days. It will be this way at least through September. Some years it lasts until November or December. Other years we get an early cool snap mid September.

No, I’m “on vacation.” But I’m never really on vacation. I’m a government trial attorney. A lot of my paperwork has deadlines for the court system and it has to be filed whether I’m in on vacation or not. This past week I had to take off to watch my daughter. My wife is an educator and she started the school year before the children went back. So my daughter needed child care. I had a clear calendar so I took off. But I still have to get the week’s paperwork done, and I have a court docket coming up later this week when I return.

I might be able to take a real vacation in the fall while my daughter is in school. I recently stepped away from handing certain serious cases so as to lighten my case load. Its going to take a couple of months for that to play out. When it does, I hope to go through a season of rest.

Oh, and - thank your wife for being an educator. The good Lord knows we need more of those and that we don't pay them anywhere near what they deserve for what they do! If life was fair, they would get paid what professional athletes make.
