Our alarm system gives you that sense of security, especially at night. The only problem is the law enforcement's response time. If you have an intruder alert, don't hold your breath with them catching someone in the act. I had a deputy explain to me that there were so many false alarms that it was hard to be everywhere at the same time. I FEEL that they have responded to so many false alarm calls that they just don't make it a priority anymore. The habitual burglars have also figured this out. Most "professional" burglars know what they are doing and are in and out in a matter of minutes. IMHO the best security system for when your not home, is an inside attack dog or two. But on another note, if the fire alarm goes off, the fire department responds pretty quickly.
