someone tried to poison my babies!!!!!

went out to feed the birds this morning to find all the gates open and the coop unlocked...looked in and the babies waterer had red shavings in it... [every day I have to clean that frequently cause being in the coop the birds kick up a lot of shavings] any way the coop stinks of antifreeze... found an empty jug of bleach and a jug of antifreeze with some in it in the garden...I am soooooo

upset....I am trying to get every shaving that is pink cleaned up so my dogs and birds dont try to eat them...

It has to be kids I wouldnt think an adult would do something so stupid and mean...well we are going to put locks on our yard gates so they will have to climb the fence if they want to get into here...and hopefully make enough noise for the dogs to hear...The fence has always been up to keep our pets in not to keep people out...

fortunately none of my birds are showing signs of poisoning...My babies are 3 days old which is why I had the waterer where I did... I could bite nails I am so ticked

make a report to the police, people around here have received jail time for poisoning animals with antifreeze, kids or not it should be reported.

I wouldn't think people, not even kids, could be that cruel. It just steams me that someone would do this to you....

That is awful. You should make a report for sure. I hope they find out who did that. Glad you caught if before one of the chicks got sick.

This reply is probably too late, but I'd take pictures of everything (including the empty jugs of bleach and antifreeze), and I'd call the police and make a report.

You might want to put locks on everything, so big or small hands can't get in where they're not supposed to. Make sure you keep the food inside the coop and the water inside the pen. That way, they'll be locked in with everyone.

Then I'd write it all down (don't forget the date) so that you have documentation.

Put locks on everything and let the dogs patrol a little more.

I would be furious!

I would also call the police, and tell them to come out....maybe they can get prints from the discarded jugs & match them up if you catch someone else on your property.

Kids can be so cruel.
