someone tried to poison my babies!!!!!

So sorry that this happened to you but it don't have to be kids. Recently my neighbor came into my yard at night and ripped the heads off my 2 1/2 month old cochin pullets. He told my husband that he thought they were spying on him

and he was sorry but that don't bring my birds back to life. At first I thought it was kids until he admitted it. I have since moved my birds to another property.

edited to say that this man is almost 40 years old.

I am so glad you found it before your chicks did. I have a feeling they would be showing signs by now if they ingested any of the anti-freeze. I am sorry some people are so cruel. Good job getting the police involved, btw. I agree with the other posters, camera, padlocks, post your property. I hope this sicko doesn't come around again!!

Yes to me it sounds like an older, grumpy, wimpy person without a life. If they had any guts they would tell you and use a more sure direct method than poison to try to off your birds.

Sounds like your flock made it through alright. Good luck nabbing the guy who did it.

I agree. While kids can be mean and irresponsible, juveniles would do something like throw a skunk in the coop or damage it in some way, not try to poisn the entire flock. I think a neighbor is secretly terrified they will catch avian flu because you are keeping chickens or something.

I have seen dvr cards you can stick in a PC and outdoor cameras with IR "night vision" that are selling for not much money on e-bay.

that's just plain evil. Sounds like a revenge thing, so mean with poisonous liquids and such. Just sicking

Sorry I jumped to the conclusion that it could be kids but all my neighbors are nice... I have talked to everyone of them before and they dont mind my chickens... I only have 4 adults and the 2 babies...not a whole lot of birds...
as for a grumpy old lady I am the grumpy old lady of the neighborhood... lol

the shavings had absorbed all the liquid so they couldnt drink it and I am sure they would have shown signs of poisoning by now especially the 2 babies...they all seem fine...

when my son gets back from his vacation on Sunday we will put up a nanny cam...and maybe a motion sensor light/alarm
