They have been together for months with absolutely no issues. They have never attacked each other at all, it doesn't make sense they would start now, but it is very possible. I thought maybe the rooster hoarded off a Weasel, Since they are small, I have seen posts were birds have survived an attack. Since Cosmo was the most beat up maybe he got beat up in the process?I wonder if they may have been fighting. Sometimes they go for the neck/waffles area, and the blood seems to get everywhere. Mink and their relatives tend to kill the birds.
We do have a camera, we are defiantly gonna put it up.For now it's just a guessing game. To know for sure, if you have a camera, put it up because most likely whatever it was will be back and probably has been lurking looking for an opportunity then you will know for sure what you are dealing with. In the meantime fortify. Probably a weasel.
