Something attacked my turkey

Good afternoon.
Night before last, something took a nice bite out of my turkey hen. By the time I got home from work last night, the other birds had been picking at her and she now has three different lesions. I took her into the house, washed her with warm water, put some ointment on it and have separated her from the rest of the flock in a clean quarantine area. She isn't happy about being alone but she won't be pecked at in there. Is there anything else I should be doing for her? I am going to pick up some electrolytes for her on the way home today. I cannot get antibiotics over the counter anymore so that is not an option.

Turkeys are real good about healing up from wounds. I generally just use bluekote to discourage other birds from pecking. Turkeys also keep their wounds clean, so don't be surprised if you see her messing with it at times.

Make sure that you have something on the wounds so that the flies stay off.

I'm sure one of the things you'd like to know is what attacked your turkey, in order to prevent this in the future. It's hard to say and we could spend sometime guessing. Obviously you can look for any places that something may have gotten in from, and seal up any possible entry ways. Eventually I installed a surveillance camera in my chicken coop. It's one one camera, so it certainly doesn't show everything but at least I can see what comes and goes during the night. A few times it has proved useful in finding a problem. Game cameras, that snap a photo when something moves can be helpful but you'll end up with a big pile pictures of chickens to sift though.

This happened at night. Or early enough in the morning for me not to be out there, yet. I feed at 530am, though, so it would have had to be pretty early. I have four acres that are perimeter fenced with 5' no climb horse fencing. Then the run an coop are fenced inside of that. I didn't think much could get in. We have foxes and coyotes and wild boar in the area so I will be watching for them. My husband is going to stay up, tonight, with a .22 to see if anything gets in.
