Hello everyone, this is not a very serious attack or anything like that but something attacked my australorp pullet ( Pretty big australorp). I was in my backyard while all my chickens were free ranging and suddenly i heard it squack very loud. It keeped making a loud clucking noise after it sqauked and seemed frightened, and i noticed that she had 2 feathers sticking out from her back and sides. I know it wasnt anything on the ground because she fought it off easily. And it would have been something to quickly swoop and leave. But it was something small (lol) that didint have any chance. The only birds we have here are sparrows, blackbirds, mynas and tuis (New zealand native bird). I have seen a tui attack a full grown chicken and just swoop and leave. But i didint see any tui because they are would be pretty easy to spot flying off. So does anyone know? Thanks for your help.

I don't have a clue! I'm sure some wise people will be up here to help you soon. If you can, keep a close eye on your flock. If they almost got her today they are likely to be back. Best of luck:hugs

Yep, my chickens have spooked at a leaf falling before. Chickens can be like horses- my horses spook at the sound of their own farts:lau
LOL, That would be funny if i saw a horse get spooked from its own fart!. But if it was something like an object then that still doesn't explain the feathers :hmm... Hmmmmmm.
