If you have a hunting store around you, you could always buy coyote pee to put around the coop. I have friends that have had success with it. I'm thinking I'll be trying it myself.

Bass pro and cabella and academy all have it but yours is free and you can go around the whole fence line

In my experience owls eat the heads of chickens. Was one of them gone entirely? So sorry. Predators are the worst. I've lost 4 that way. Once two raccoons, another time a fox (during the day!).

I have, well had 3 hens. Something got ahold of 2 of them, one of them got away with only missing feathers. However my Australorp was killed, her entire chest area missing feathers and picked pretty clean. Just one small spot looks like front teeth nibbled, and her head was missing! I'm so upset. I don't think it was ariel attack, no holes around my fence(6ft) so whatever it was came over. I was thinking cat, but I don't know, maybe it was ariel, when my 8 yr old got the chickens to come out from under coop, the chickens ran straight under our deck and stayed there. Does anybody know what it could be? I live in rural area. I have pics but they're graphic.

So sorry for your loss!. It may have been a weasel, if you're feeling vengeful or curious or maybe both you can put out a live trap with chicken feathers and meat in it around the chicken coop

i am so sorry for your loss.. i know it's heartbreaking..

raccoons do indeed tend to eat the head..

and people on this site are very accustomed to graphic pictures.. not only have most of us all dealt with something of the sort, but it's all a learning experience.. i have learned soo much here..

I know this will suck but if you pluck the body feathers you also my find out more info like holes in the back of the birds or claw marks or even teeth marks
