We have BLOOD STOP powder on hand - you can find it online. It is the same type thing as styptic but it is blood stop clotting powder. WORKS GREAT on wounds and it it for just that thing.
Regarding security to stop issues like this ---- see post on SECURITY / BABY MONITOR.
Sometimes if you hear it - you can get there and stop it from happening or see it on camera and do something before it wreaks havoc on the coop/flock.
