How is Claude doing this morning?

Hi everyone!

Claude was sleeping when I left for work this morning at 4 AM (I shook his carrier to make sure he was alive, he made rooster noises so I knew he was okay.) Thank you all for your concern. I'm going to apply some more blu-kote when I get home this afternoon and see if I can get Claude to take a few more pictures for me.

They should be up this afternoon, I plan on letting him out to range with the other teenagers this afternoon too.

Well, Claude seems to be recovering fine, he's eating and drinking more like a pig than a chicken

and he enjoyed his time outside with the other birds this afternoon. He's back inside now in the kennel resting, making his rooster noises. I noticed him and Stewart got into it a bit, so I brought him back inside. I don't want him to injure his wing anymore fighting, silly boy.

Anyways, here's some pictures from when I first applied the Blu-Kote. Claude was a wonderful patient, he stood on the counter and just looked at me, then I gave him some boiled egg and he gobbled that up as I covered the wound. Such a big baby.

He's not camera shy at all!

Nom, nom, nom... that's all he did while I covered the bare spot in Blu-Kote.

How long should I wait until I put him back with the other teenagers? I thought about letting him spend a couple hours with them outside this weekend when I have off from work, so I can keep an eye out to make sure nobody picks at him. For now he's in the kitchen next to the window. How does the wound look?

I would let it heal over... it's going to be a while before you can put him back with the others without them picking at him, but it sounds like you're doing just fine.
