I know I have become a chicken crazy because I spend my time looking at people's sheds and outbuildings to see if there are chickens as we drive by! I see them at places that have other animals (horses, sheep, cows) and places that don't. There are more people keeping chickens than I would have thought, though it is still the exception.

I love seeing chicken keeping homes!

Anyone else do this? If not you should, it's fun...

DH and I love to drive to all the small towns when we go places..........only use the "BIG" roads when we have too.

And we do the same...."look, at that coop" or "wow, what a unique place to keep chooks" or........

I think it might be a disease

My thing is....Ohh I could totally turn that into a coop! Kids playhouses, dog houses sheds an old shop down town has ten tons of pallets just piled up behind it I'm like dang look @ all that coop material!

Thank goodness I'm not the only chicken nutter looking for other people's coops!!

The only chickens I see near me are about 4 miles away, I pass them on the way into town. Small red coop that's bursting at the seams with birds since they fly the run and free range themselves.

Me too!!! there are alleys all over the place here. I have taken walks to see if anyone has a backyard coop in my area. So far...no. But along the bike track of a major in town park...the walking trail goes over 10 miles!...there is a lady with a HUGE garden and a chicken tractor with 9 chickens in it. It's so cool seeing other chicken keepers in the neighborhood.

So now once in awhile i take the kids on an extended Physical Education walk (homeschooling mom), with the secret mission of looking for chicken coops.

It's really bad when you are looking around your own house for things to use in your coop.

My DH made me a plant shelf from the 2 sides of a futon frame.

The other day I was looking at it thinking: "hey, that's actually about the right size ...."

Isn't it amazing how a few months on the BYC changes the way you see everything? LITERALLY? ... Where there used to be storage sheds, I now see coops. Where there used to be a pile of pallets, I see coops. Where I used to see playhouses, I now see coops. Where there used to be chain link fences, I see run making materials. Where there used to be a produce stand I see chicken treat vendors. Where I used to see grapes, I now see chicken gumballs. Where I used to see jack-o-lanterns and fall harvest displays, I now see chicken treats and chicken playlands made of corn stalks and haybales. *and I suspect I have lots of company out there....*
