I’m in missouri. I’d like for there nightcoop to be a 8ft by 20ft size coop. I’d customize it two have 2 levels of dens for each one to have there own. And there will be a fair share of heating lights in there along with there coop will be insulated to help sure there warm in the winter. During the day my chickens roam there backyard and night they in there coop

That’s a big coop! Plenty of room. Beware that insulation might be a magnet for rodent intrusion (warmth in winter). Heat lamps need to be doubly secured bc you don’t want them to cause a fire. Have you considered elevating your coop 2 feet or more? Gives the chickens space snd shade underneath.

Yes the 8 by 20 is both. I lt my chickens out in the morning and they stay out until dark time due to the stray dogs around and the wild animals that could possible hurt or kill them. The 8 by 20 will be levels and in height will be about 10 high

I’ve got surveillance in the coop I’ve got the baby chicks in right now so if my alarm goes off I can see what it is an go out after if. I’ve got 8 baby chicks and 2 baby ducks together right now. I’d never would’ve thought that the two different species would be so great together

Thank u I figured it out. I posted it if you’d like to check it out. It’s just a video of the 2 baby ducks I got. 5 minutes of the two being around me I was there mama and that it was the wildest the bc my chickens didn’t take me on that fast lol

They *can* be. I’m not sure if you know what sexes your ducklings are, but if you end up with a drake (male) it could kill your female chickens (pulleys/hen). Also need to be careful and keep it dry for the chickens and the ducks will grow exponentially faster than the chicks. (We just got ducks over a week ago so I am still learning, but we’ve had chickens for 7ish months)

Thank you for these tips. My grandpa had a farm when I was a kid and I just remember the ducks and chickens housing together. I’m just finally getting to have my own. I’ve had my chickens a little over a week now and just bought 2 baby ducks today. I’m 32 and have wanted the two since I was a little one. I’ve got two fainting goats I just put a down pamyment on today so the goat are the three farm animals I’ve always wanted an I’m extremely excited to have finally got them

Heat lamps and insulation (both are unnecessary). How much ventilation do you plan on having open 24/7?

Trying to keep them warm is more of an issue than giving them the ventilation they need to allow ammonia and moisture to escape.

There will be the opening of the coop the will be 10ft tall and open but I caved with cattle panel then chicken wire so it prevents them from getting out or anything coming in. Before my grandpa died in 2017 he had a farm for more than thirty year so that’s how how come about that idea and it worked just fine but me being new to it I’m reaching out looking for better things for my pets is all. If it was up to my my chickens would have theee own room In my house but that isn’t going to fly with my wife
