I noticed that her leg was injured the day we got her..it looked like she had wood shavings or something(but it wasn't i don't think) stuck in her leg between the feather part and scaley part of her leg (sorry don't know terms) now that has been picked off but it's still swollen and almost looks like string or something has been wrapped around it. I sprayed some antiseptic sprat to clean and moisten so I could see if it would loosen. But don't want to make anything worse. I don't want her to suffer and want to help. I hope someone has some ideas to help aide me to make her feel better. Thanks.

This is frustrating. Your photos really don't show enough to determine what the problem is. And you need to try really hard to come up with more accurate descriptions of what is going on.

Age of chick? How long has this been going on? What does the chick do? Is it eating normally? Acting normal? Do you believe it had an accident? What do you think happened? You need to scrape the bottom of the barrel for clues to give us.

Did you pick it off the “wood shaving” thing that was stuck to its leg, did it fall off on its own or did another chick? Was there swelling/limping before it was removed or only after?

Got her from TS about a week and a half ago. Since day 1 we got her. She or another bird pick off the stuff now she's left with what almost looks like I string.. but I'm not sure. I'm soaking her and when I try to slowly pull it off I'm unsure coz it looks weird and I don't want to make it worse...she eats and drinks but is much smaller than the others. She seats by herself a lot. Gets pushed around..

On what part of the body is this "string"? If it's on the belly just under the vent (poop hole), it may be the umbilicus. Do not pull on it.

The leg swelling may be from slipped tendon. Fixing it involves leg manipulation and a chick chair until the leg strengthens and heals. https://www.chickenheavenonearth.co...u-can-do-to-help-chicken-heaven-on-earth.html
It was wrapped around leg. I soaked it and ended up getting stuff off.. idk what it was but I can now see bare skin that clearly inflamed but I think I got what was causing the problem..I'll post what I got off and what it looks like now.

Your pictures aren’t great, is there some sort of cut, opening, or laceration between the swelling leg and the normal feathers? Is that ‘string’ a dried flap of skin? Is there something wrapped around the leg? The swollen leg could be an infected joint or just edema if there is something cutting off circulation above it (string etc) or effusion from an infected wound higher up the leg. You should probably get it looked at by a vet and get some antibiotics or euthanize it. A joint infection, abscess, or large cut won’t heal with just topical antiseptics (neosporin, veterycin).

Just saw your new pictures, it is good you got the strangulating junk off but that is a nasty wound and may have compromised circulation: she may lose the leg! If it is cold and gray/dull colored/blue/black those are bad signs. Give her a few days before deciding how bad the damage is and antibiotics are highly recommended!
