Something just seems wrong....

Well I just unplugged my brinsea and turner for the first time since mid-may. I'v ran several staggered hatches. Some for me , some for friends. Have'nt sat down a figured how many chicks hatched but the % has been high... Did do a count of total eggs set thou, 254 total, 72 chukars, the rest coturnix. In batches of 2 or 3 dozen at a time. Most coturnix eggs were from my birds.

The last batch just went to the hatcher for lock down. 36 total. I guess this will be the last ones till the Sept.1st hatch-A-long... My house seems strangely quite now without the familiar hum of the bator fan... I'm feeling a little blue, no new eggs in the bator. Maybe this would be a good time for a beer.... Sit around and get hammered with the last bunch of bittys.

Well hell, my left eye just started to twitch.... Either I'm developing a facial tick or I got a quail on my back. Anybody ever heard of "quail rehab"? A twelve step program maybe?

Ya know, just one more hatch before the hatch-a-long would'nt hurt anything!! Randall's been hatch'n birds since moby was a minnow, without shut'n his bator off. JJ's runs all the time too. Wonder if I could score just a couple dozen from someone close by? Would'nt mean I had a problem, I could quit any time I wanted, I just like quail.... Hey THERES A EGG!! Don't stop, Bill..........keep shovin'em in there. When I hear folks takin' a break in hatchin, I feel guilty, greedy, or whatever ya wanna call it. I keep sayin' I'm gonna stop puttin'em in the bator and put'em in the fridge for a while, then wash, boil, and pickle'em. It ain't happed yet. Got 170 somethin' in the growout pens, a pile in a brooder, set (77) on July 17th (due Tue)............set another (77) on the 25th................set another (78) August 1st, settin' another ~(80) tomorrow night.................and the big gals just keep churnin'em out. They haven't stopped at all. I'm seriously fixin to run out'a room to put'em........dunno...

empty bators are not natural...... kinda like a crime against nature or something...



i should know.. have been hatching birds nonstop.. chickens.. turkeys and now quail.. lol... FEED THE BATOR!!.. it NEEDS eggs!

If you set them they will hatch...... A bator without eggs: Mork without Mindy, Left without Right, Tom without Jerry, The Coyote with Roadrunner... Do you see the disturbance you are about to cause here????
