Something really bad happened this weekend and I would like to know...

I thought about this last night. I was in El Paso picking up feed late because our feed store had closed. When I pulled out of the parking lot I had to cross 2 lanes and a median to go the other way. As I was going through the median 2 boys, one about 15, one about 7, Black, wearing black clothes, the little one on a push scooter, crossed the road without even looking. I didn't see them until they were in my headlights, they never even looked at me in their dash across the road. 9:30 pm,,, where were the parents?

Yes, where were the parents?? Thats really the issue here, IMO..
And her getting "off"..had nothing to do with him being hispanic and her being white, Sorry..

... just more excuses being made for child left to walk home at midnight..
If you LET your child WALK home at midnight, and with dark clothes on.... well....??
I'm sorry, and i cant imagine what those parents AND that driver are feeling... just a sad, sad situation for EVERYONE involved.

They definitly ruled out drugs/alchohol AND speed. I guess I and the kids would be able to put morse sense to it IF we had someone/something to blame and charges would help that. My husband says SHE will tear herself up for the rest of her life over this so its not like she will get off scott free.

Sure the kids are torn up about it... but thats when ADULT folks NEED to talk with them about personal responsibility... and not playing the race card for every misfortune that happens in their life...

EXACTLY - a great time to guide the kids down the right thought path... teaching personal responsibility... and about actions and consequences.

Race had nothing to do with any of it, cause if she saw he was a hispanic kid, well, if she saw him that well, she wouldn't have hit him now would she!!
