Something stole my marble eggs!

I do have a dog. I don't think he is the culprit though. If he found the golf balls he would be playing with them. Totally puzzled on this one!

I was probably a raccoon. I use ceramic eggs in my coop and sometimes I'll put them in the run if I have a chicken that is laying outside the nest box. If the ceramic egg is within reach of a raccoon outside the run they will take it, never to be seen again. I don't know if they think it's a real egg or just a habit they have of collecting trinkets during the night.

If your marble eggs are gone, it was probably a snake who swallowed them and crawled away. A fox would have eaten (or tried to) and could not eat a marble egg. Snakes swallow them, then crawl away and crush them inside their body. Since they are unable to crush the marble eggs, you will probably find a dead snake nearby, or one who is unable to move around. If you kill the snake, chop him up, you can get your marble eggs back.

Even though this is old. I would think squirrel or rat. They tend to carry them away as well without eating.
