I have a 12 wk old jersey giant rooster and I noticed today something is wrong with his eye. I noticed two hens same age with same problem, I called the vet and they made an appt for Monday but I would like the experience chicken keepers advise. Can I do something before Monday other than clean it which I already did.

Your vet should be able to determine if it's a sinus or upper respiratory infection, but in the meantime, what I'd do is put Terramycin ointment (after rinsing their eye) in their eyes every few hours. If you don't have any of that, triple antibiotic ointment (without painkiller) works too. That would help if it's an eye infection.

Anytime a chicken is fighting something, vitamins such as Poultry Cell in their water helps.

Awesome! Yes I can’t wait for Monday to get here. But thank you, I do have neosporin I keep for my horses too. Thanks again.

Update! Vet said it’s an eye infection so he prescribed doxycycline in the water for 7 days and neomycin ointment for 7 days too.
