Hi all,
Went out to feed my chicks today and as I watched them for a little bit I got the feeling that something wasn't quite right with them! Nothing real obvious except that alot of them didn't come running to the feeder as I was filling it.

Do you have any ideas of things to watch for, makes it kinda nervous because things have all been going pretty good for my chicks since I got them as day old babies. The oldest are about 3 months now. Thoughts will be very much appreciated!
Thanks!

Has it been hotter than normal? Is there any bloody stools in the pen? Heat can make them sluggish, but if you have bloody stools, I'd be concerned with coccidiosis - which also makes them sluggish, not willing to eat avidly and can turn for the worst really quickly.

Actually it has been warm and humid this past week, could that be it? Geees I sure hope that's all it is. Thanks for answering so quickly! I am going to clean out the coop tomorrow then I will watch the poo, so far I havn't seen any of that tho, thank goodness!

Just keep a real close eye on them. It wouldn't hurt to give them a vitamin boost and maybe some yogurt. I use those baby vitamins - liquid - polivitasol (I think ) Maybe some watermelon. It's a nice cool treat that helps to hydrate them.

Thanks so much, going shopping so I'll pick them up some goodies!! Thanks again! I really appreciate it!!

Just remember if you do yogurt - get the plain no flavors no sugar added kind.

good luck again!

OK will write that on my list, and thanks again!
