That is great. But you missed my point. You ARE complaining about being stressed out. You are a young kid. You should be enjoying your young years, not being stressed out. Somethings gotta give. Like I asked, baseball should be done with soon?? Then you can relax a bit I hope.

Thanks, baseball ends in about 2 weeks. We have a game on Saturday then the playoffs.

Hey its just the period of life you are going through its not always going to be like that, when I was in high school we were on double session b/c of overcrowding, I had to be up at 5:20am and most times I didnt get to bed till 11pm b/c of work/homework/chores etc. It will make you a stronger person in the end!

Wow this thread is old! Well baseball is starting up again. Now it's spring ball. Spring ball is more competetive so that means the season is longer and more practices. But I can manage. I did it with fall ball and I can do it again. I had my draft last night. The draft is where all the coaches come and pick the players that they want on their team. I hope my coach from fall ball drafts me again. Wish me luck! I will keep everyone updated with my games.

Baseball is usually a spring/summer sport--so I would think it is barely starting? I know it hasn't started here yet.

My son's school is also 7 hours long, and back in the dark ages when I was in school it was even longer (8-4). Atheletics here do tend to demand huge amounts of time--my older son's school had practices 5 days per week: starting an hour after school (the school would not let them start earlier--they wanted students to be ble to conference or get tutoring with their teachers as needed) until as late as 9pm (sometimes out earlier). They were not allowed to work on homework during practice, even when they were not out in the field playing. They were expected to stand (no sitting) and watch. Except in rare cases, the top players were the only ones who actually were out in the field very often. This was freshman varsity (open to anyone who wanted to sign up). Both the junior and varsity teams practiced ALL their players most of the time--being on hte sidelines was merely an opportunity to rest and recuperate before going back out. Needless to say my son lasted about 6 weeks. His school started at 7 (zero hour), he wasn't home until 8 or 9 and then several hours worth of homework.

My younger son has no interest in atheletics, and after seeing the strain it put on our older son did not push it past recreational sports when he was younger.

As has been said, kids need time to be kids. There is value is simply resting and "vegging out."

The practices are starting in a couple weeks.

I hope you enjoy your new coach and team. Sit down and make out a schedule of when you do what--sometimes it is easier to put it into perspective if you plan it out. Making a plan doesn't mean that it can't be changed--just that YOU are controlling your time--it isn't controlling you. Be sure to schedule in some down time--just to hang out on your own and with friends.

Sonoran. I think Maxx is playing on a competetive/traveling team. Not a school team. Competetive sports do take up a lot of your time and $$. You do have to make sacrifices. I prefer school sports as the seasons are shorter and less stressful and still time for your friends. I have been on both ends and it can be stressful. You do make a good point and I hope Maxx has his priority in place.
