Sometimes I prefer animal company rather then human company

I usually prefer animal company, although I do have some very good human friends also. Animals don't lie, they don't pretend to be your friend and then stab you in the back, and they don't have agendas. It's more than I can say about a lot of the humans I know.

Animals love unconditionally. How many humans do you know that you can say that about? I love it when I get home from a hard days work and my dogs are screaming for me to come in to the house then give me kisses and when I go out to the chickens, thay all fly to me talking to me all at once. I have one girl that will talk for several minutes I know she is telling me all about her day. My animals always make me smile I cant say that for alot of people.

I'm glad to see my DW anytime as long as she has a beer for me in her hand...no matter how bad the day has been!
No chicken has ever done that for me!

I genuinely find even insects to be absolutely enthralling and adorable. Even our rabbits are allowed to sleep curled up with us in the bed. I don't feel as fulfilled if I'm not surrounded by animals and nature. But, I guess I differ in that while I have lived and breathed non-human animals as far back as my memories date, I find a very solid relationship with a human to be on a completely different level than what I find with a dog. Animals and babies seem to suffer the role of projection screen more often than not, and I prefer conditional love. I like to know that I've earned the smile on my husband's face, because no, he would not put up with the same things my dog will put up with. And that just makes it that much more rewarding to me. I also hear many say things like, "animals don't judge people", in the same sentence as, "I don't like a person if my pet doesn't like them", so I kind of question many of the platitudes I hear.

All that said, I spend a great deal of time with each of our pets. Right now I have a cat, two rabbits, and a dog all asleep at my feet. That makes me feel enormously happy and peaceful, and I'm glad I seem to bring them comfort as well. They certainly are more enjoyable to be around than many people I meet are.

Yeah, that's a really great illustration

I have to say the chooks are calming to sit with when I have some big project that needs working on. They hang around but aren't always asking me to fetch them this, that or the other
