Sometimes I wish I had a CPAP machine

Treg! Yes my DH has seen an improvement in all those things since he started wearing his mask regularly. I have a different sleep issue. My brain doesn't shut off when I go to sleep, so my sleeping EEG and awake EEG look almost identical. Dr. wanted to send me for a sleep study for apnea, but I refused. Waiting to have one done by the neurologist instead.

CRAP machine=DH....makes sense though, right? She mentioned sleeping with it.....cause if that's the case, I sleep next to the biggest crap machine of them all....

Sleep apnea is very serious. First discovered my dh had it shortly after we were married. He would stop breathing in his sleep for a looooooong time, like 10 seconds (i was counting "1 hippopotamus, 2 hippopotamus, etc). It was very alarming. When he did his sleep study they found that he had a serious episode every 60 seconds - stopped breathing, throat closing down. Before the cpap he was always tired, looking like he had been beat up in the morning, grumpy. Since he started using the cpap, almost 10 years ago, he gets by on less sleep as it's more refreshing as he's not fighting for his life all night. His mood is better and he has a lot more energy.

i did a sleep study as my dh said i was snoring. My breathing was not stopping. i hated the study, couldn't sleep in a strange place all wired up to a machine. i think in my case they tried to push the machine on me. i don't think the study was accurate (and the second one was even worse - i spent most of the night with the mask pulled off my face). But with my dh, i think it saved his life.

i have been useing a bipap machine and oxygen concentrator for going on 7 years. im 32 years old now. back when i first discovered i had sleep apnea i was dosing off all day long and i drive a dump truck for a living. i finally said enough is enough and went to my doctor and had 2 sleep studys done. the dr told me i was the worst hes ever seen i stopped breathing 90 times in a 8 hour sleep study. i can truly say this has saved my life. i use it everynight i have gotten so used to it that i cant get to sleep without it . i use the nasal pillows . the dr says if i lose alot of weight i could get off it someday im 6ft 2in 450lbs. obese runs in my family what can i say just need to keep trying to lose it i guess.
