No good way to say this other than to just say it--my horse Fancy colicked and died last night. The vet said he thought there was probably an obstruction in her bowel--she'd been out on new grass for a while that
afternoon but if that was all it was she'd have gotten better. What a
lousy night. I am majorly depressed, not to mention feeling somewhat
guilty even though the vet said I probably hadn't done anything to
cause it. Can I go crawl in a hole now?

This is on top of something getting six of my layers last weekend and one more just quietly expiring in the chicken house Sunday. Not a good week on the Funny Farm......

Geez. I'm so sorry. I'm sure you take great care of your animals, so don't beat yourself up too much. I know it doesn't help, but it's not your fault - all this is part of keeping animals, and it sucks. I'm sure you're terribly sad...hugs hugs hugs.

I am so sorry about your mare.

I'm so sorry about your horse. I know how hard it can be to lose something that is such a good friend to you for so many years! I lost my horse two years ago and I still haven't gotten over it.

Just know its ok to cry! It doesn't fix things, but after events like this its good to just let it all out.

The one thing that kept me going was having hope that I would one day find another horse to begin a new chapter of my life with. Even though you can never replace an animal, there are so many out there just waiting for a friend like you!

Hugs

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It does just happen sometimes. We lost a mare the same way years ago...we walked her all night and all the normal stuff but she still went down.
