They all were the same breed when the hatcheries started selling them that way.

All I know is you are fighting a losing battle that is turning a large part of the poultry community ageist the breed not the hatcheries.

No EE is not a breed, it is a derogatory term used to describe non show quality birds of a breed. If was a term to be used on the breeders whos birds were excluded from the "new" standard.


If you still think you are going to win this fight then go ask a Dominicker (spelling) or Barred Rock breeder how long they ave been working to be split in to 2 breeds an how its working for them.

None of the hatcheries claim show quality or to even breed to any standard. Hatcheries are breeding for production. Always have.

The blue egg breeders are the only group that seems to throw a fit about this. But then, they are the only group that treats people that dirt for owning a bird that is not show quality an tells them they have to call it a different name.

This argument that goes on here about EE vs Ameraucana is so completely tiresome and uninteresting. There are many German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Chihuhuas, etc that registered each year - many, MANY are no closer to the breed standard than the EE 's are to Ameraucanas - yet people still call them by the breed that registered them. *shrug*

What you have in your back yard - and what you call it - makes absolutely no difference to what I have in my back yard.

It's as simple as that.

I hate it when people advertise Araucana's on the local classifieds, and I used to email them, and they say they are true and lay green eggs and bla bla bla. So I get driven down there and what do I find? Easter Eggers -_- I don't buy any of those lies anymore. LOL. I have 2 EE's, and 1 True Araucana, and my friend hatched Ameraucana's and it's pretty easy to tell the difference. I just wish hatcheries, and owners would see what their chickens actually are before advertising them -_- I think Cackle hatchery is the only hatchery (that I know of) that actually advertises EE's as...EE's lol

Yeah, I wish everybody just knew they are really EE's!

However, My Pet Chicken hatchery advertises them as Easter Eggers, and even says: Other hatcheries (misleadingly) sell these as "Ameraucanas," "Americanas" or sometimes "Araucanas;" however, only breeders can provide true Ameraucanas or Araucanas at this time.

And: "Easter Eggers" are hybrids that carry the blue-egg gene of the true Araucana breed.
