Two days ago my 7 year old tripped over our 7 week old silkie chick while running in the yard. :(The chick seemed okay at the time but yesterday it did not want to eat much and was not walking around during free roam with the others. I gave it water last night but it did not want to drink much. This morning when I let everyone out of the brooder the chick did not want to go into the run and stayed laying in the brooder. I gave it some sugar water and tried to get it to walk. It was able to walk but does not have much energy and only walked a few feet before sitting down. I have brought the chick inside, put a heat lamp , food and water but it's just wanting to sleep. What can I do? How can I get it to eat since it shows no interest even in treats and will only drink water from an eye dropper?

I wouldn't get too set on the problem being from getting tripped over by your child since it didn't start having problems right away. You can try offering some scrambled eggs, I've had good luck with sick/injured chooks eating those when they won't touch their regular food. Seperating it into a warm place where you can observe is exactly the right thing to do when trying to figure things out. Hope your little one recovers.

Dang, I just went to check on the chick in the brooder and it passed.

It's crazy because although it looked really weak it was able to walk around just two hours ago. All of my other chicks seem to be doing great but I don't know what happened to the poor little chick and feel guilty that I did not bring it in the house last night and try force feeding.
