Well... been a while since i updated you all!
All going well, all 8 laying daily... loads of eggs! :grin:
Had a few issues but nothing major, heres a few pics (thousand words and all that!)
We had a secret nest under the perches for a week (found it a week later when i cleared it out)
Had mishaped eggs and a soft shell;
Then my father noticed two of the birds - the two that were last in and bottom of the pecking order had bald bums... i went down to check on them and sure enough there were randomly bald... thought meh its late i'll do something about that later and went away for work for 4 days...
Disturbing them at night caused a few double yolkers!!!
Now all 8 lay in the boxes;
Weird how they learn/know where to lay!
After winter the wood chips had rotted/mulched into a hard layer of mud... this sunday i dug it all over and there was bark and mud under... the loved it and heres a few after pics;
And under the chicken coop where it is always BONE dry and now dusty a dustbath has formed - which has been topped with diatom;
And heres a little video of them exploring the newly turned over mud looking for worms!
Its that time of year!!!
