I was offered 6 chickens for free so i decided to go for it and do it on the cheap... so i got some pallets and set to work.

I had to buy some 2x2 batons for the frame work and a reel of mesh, but other than that this has cost me under £250 for EVERYTHING - when you compare that to some of the henhouse/runs pet shops sell its a bargain!

The chickens arrived before i started the build, so they lived in a crate for 4 weeks!

Heres my build pics;

Your coop has everything that I would want in mine. Great access, plenty of run space, concrete base, covered run, nice ramp and cozy shelter. Oh, and best of all, HAPPY girls!!

You have done a fabulous job and are to be commended!

Cheers, the door going down like that is because i don't intend to close it at night unless its really bad weather (wind/rain/cold) or if i need to open the run or take the roof panels off i can contain the birds inside.
I didn't want it getting stuck up from lack of use or it dropping shut by mistake trapping the birds so i decided to do it drawbridge stylee!

The outside roost might get added too... some form of climbing frame/entertainment! Its main purpose is so the birds can see over the wall and up our sloped garden - again more to see/enjoy.

Reslly like it.looks very predator proo the way u inset it on the terrace. What did u use for the roof of the coop? Ur hens are lovely. Is that tarpaper? BTW
