grrrr my poor kid. i posted about him losing a turkey by his dog before. well three of his turkey eggs hatched. yay! one died a couple days after. then his stupid goat got inside lastnight (we keep the feed inside) and knocked over the cage the chicks and poults were in and now one of his turkeys isn't doing so well. i couldn't believe it. of all those chicks in there, even one tiny bantam, only his turkey got hurt. he about cried. still loves the goat though. darnit i was hoping he'd be mad enough to want to sell her. i told him it's okay if he wants to give up on his turkey dream but that if he wants to keep trying we'll support that decision. he's only nine as i've said and has six ducks he raised that he did great with. now i just have to find some more eggs or turkeys. send my kid some positive turkey vibes.

Turkey's can be tough...... I have found they are one of the harder ones to get to adult hood. We started with 7 and at 11wks are down to 5 as one got sick and one had a pallet fall on it and crush it. I would suggest getting about 4 more than what you want to end up with. Wishing him good luck on the next batch!
