Im not looking into getting on the spiritual side of this, just factual.
Now I dont know how many of you have seen 'Knowing' but I think whats going to happen is something like that. In the movie the sun sends out such a flair that it burns the whole world and everything on it.
I dont think the world is going to burn up or anything but...
"The sun is currently near minimum on its 11-year activity cycle, the report explains, but is expected to produce solar storms that will increase in intensity and frequency as it approaches peak activity levels in 2012."
I just think its odd how the Maya Calender ends for 2012 and 2012 is the year for a solar maximum. Its suppose to be one of the largest solar storms since 1859. They said this solar minumum has been eerily quiet. Kind of like the quiet before a huge storm.
"Doomsayers point to the Sun as a possible Earth-killer source, but the fact remains that our Sun is a very stable star. It does not have a binary partner (like II Pegasi), it has a predictable cycle (of approximately 11 years) and there is no evidence that our Sun contributed to any mass extinction event in the past via a huge Earth-directed flare. Very large solar flares have been observed (such as the 1859 Carrington white light flare) but we are still here."
If the sun does send out a big enough flair it could burn up our satellites. They predict it could send us without power for months and months. Our phones, internet, electricity, sewers, running water would be gone. It would be like a "space weather Katrina"
"The damage could top $1 or $2 trillion."
IF we are left without power and running water for months it could get nasty. People looting all over the place, spoiled foods, hunger. People in cities wouldnt have land to grow foods, chickens to lay eggs

Would you be ready IF something like this did happen? I know I am going to get my garden tilled up this fall and again in the spring and get the whole small scale farm thing down.
Though....Im not really ok with the whole outhouse thing
