Some female dogs will lift their legs when they pee, sometimes depending on terrain. Boys of her age won't necessarily lift their legs to pee, either - that comes later with hormones. You definitely have a girl there!

*dies* a Sheltie... awwwwwww. I grew up with a Sheltie. Had her for 14 years, her name was Dixie. She was my best friend, I sure do miss her! They are great dogs- enjoy her!

My female Aussie (RIP girl

) always lifted her leg to pee, she was very alpha (but loved and got along with all dogs- she was just always the boss!)​
