SOOO Frustrated! Hawk rant...

I used 2' high 1/2" x1/2" on my tractor run. Not much can get through that. The main fencing is 2"x4" welded fence wire and is more to stop brute force attempts at getting inside.

If the hawk is on the ground and attempting to get through electric fence to get at chickens then it very well may get a zap. One of our girls went to inspect the chicklet run (which has an electric fence) and she took a bit of a nip from the charger. Ruffled her feathers rather well.

we used the deer netting from homedepot 100ftx7ft was 18 bucks i think but we have alot of hawks flying over head but have not lost one bird this year.seems to be working i have even had them sitting on top of the coop looking it at the little chicks drollng

You missed the point of using “plastic” netting. It’s left loose and floppy. If the hawk tries to get to the chickens through the netting it becomes tangled. In the old days people would have used balls of monofilament fishing line and treble hooks. I just assume people have kids or other animals around so I don’t suggest that. Besides it’s pretty cruel and messy.
