Soooo who's ready for autumn

I cant wait for autumn. It was so hot today delivering mail that I think my eyebrows actually melted together. I sweat so much i literally have to drink a gallon a day of water just while i am working. So much for the cushy government job. I actually love fall and winter. I can always put more clothes on, but there are only so many you can take off and be legal. Nobody wants to see the naked sweaty fat guy coming up the driveway with their packages and mail. Its kind of a show stopper, if you will.

Yes, we're ready! We love the fall. In particular:

the children with their bright smiles, new clothes and backpacks (I'm a teacher)
the (occasional) hum of the pool heater as we warm it up for the grandkids coming over
the barrage of acorns on the roof and the squirrels busy burying them
the first fire of the season in the fireplace
the battery-operated sound-activated laughing ghost hanging in his special place inside the doorway, that's now 20 years old
figuring out Halloween costumes

All great memories! Fall really tickles the senses. All three of my children's birthdays are in the fall. I love the family gatherings at Thanksgiving and the wonderful aroma of turkey dressed with rosemary and thyme filling the house. I think if I had to pick a favorite it would be taking the kids to the pumpkin patch and a hayride around the corn and sunflowers which we do ever year at Casola's farms.

Fall here is usually a drizzly October followed by unrelenting drenching rain till Christmas.

Aww sorry to hear that Imp. Many people like to head south when summer ends but I like having the 4 seasons. Each one brings a different atmosphere. Constant Rain must be tough.... And soggy

It's weird...it "almost" feels like fall here. The sun seems to be at an odd slant than what I'm used to. I don't know if I'm imaging it or not?

yeah... autumn in Florida... high 80s low 90s, the smell of tourists, the grass stops growing three inches a day down to just one....
