So, I was looking out my backyard at my rabbits run. I noticed this on the fence, looking at Sophie, my Netherland Dwarf/Californian.

American Kestrel_7.jpg

This is an American Kestrel, a small falcon. Preys on mice.

Sophie didnt run. she continued to graze. She wasnt afraid of the Kestrel. Same thing happened a few days ago, but it was a full grown Red Tailed Hawk.

She is a tough rabbit, very territorial. She killed a cat once and chased off a red tailed hawk once. She doesnt get scared easily. It doesnt surprise me that she is not scared of a Kestrel. She is probably thinking, "First off, I am very territorial. Second, I am 3 times your size. You dont stand a chance against me!"

Smart and tough, thats my Sophie!

the bird is cute wow you bunny took out a cat my bun bun when after my cat twice. She has nip me when she was done being held

Sophie does the same thing when she is held. Funny bunny.

Yes, the bird is cute. I like looking at kestrels.

A few days ago, a full grown red tail hawk went after her. This time she ran into her hutch.

She is smart. She knows when to run and hide and she knows when and how to fight.

I need to cover the run, actually. As tough as she is, she needs to feel secure in her home. I feel this way ever since the eagle incident. We had a mature Bald Eagle fly over once and it circled the run.
