sore on 4 day old chick

Hi All!

This is my first go round with chickens. We got our chicks form Mt. Healthy Monday all look great. One of them has developed an open sore on her side. I don't know if the others have pecked her or what has happened. She seems healthy other than that. I have seperated her and she is none too happy about it. Can someone tell me if it this is normal chick behavior? Could it be something else? They have lots of room, are in the house, have food, and I even put a ticking clock in their box to keep them company.

Any thoughts?

Most likely someone picked on her. I would keep her separate and let it heal. If it looks infected, put some neosporin on it. Watch the others to make sure nobody else gets pecked at. How big is your brooder. Sometimes they get fussy when they are crowded.
