sore on leg

My 12 week pullet has an infected looking leg. It looks like it has scratches and is all swollen up. Her left eye is closed more than usual too. She seems to be eating and drinking fine and is walking too. If its just an infected scratch then what do i use to clean it out?

You can clean the wound much like you would your own, with soap and water, a little peroxide or dilute Betadine, whatever -- then put some Neosporin or other antibacterial on it, probably daily til healed. The only precaution is, do not use anything with a "caine" drug in it, such as cetacaine or benzocaine. You can buy an ophthalmic antibiotic ointment at the feed store for the eye.
