My 2 week old D'Anver has developed a raised hard sore to its neck and is now losing feather to its back. Only one in flock with this problem it seems. Scratches it regularly. Tried vaseline and dermaid with little luck. comb is also red in colour compared to the other chicks. Any ideas?

The red comb is probably an early indicator that you may have a young roo. As far as the skin issue goes:
-Have you checked for bugs? Seems very likely with the itching and feather loss.
-Could it be an ingrown feather? Sounds crazy, but does happen and when they start to get really big, birds are really annoyed about them.
-Could it be an injury? Birds' bodies tend to try to encapsulate any infection thus the reason why abscesses are so common in birds. The upside of this defense mechanism is that the infections are generally pretty easy to deal with and rarely become a systemic issue.
