Sores on chickens face

First time chicken owner here. 2 out of 6 of my chickens have this sore/lump on their faces. Could this be from pecking or is it something contagious?

Apologies if I'm missing your meaning here, but are you talking about their nostrils? They can be more prominent on chickens with smaller combs, like the one in my profile picture.

I can’t see anything on the second photo but the thing in the first does not look healthy. My mom had a chicken with something similar and it didn’t end well. We think it was a tumor. I’m no expert so don’t assume that’s what is happening with yours. I will try to find the thread about it to compare

You can compare the photos but we never got a definitive answer because the rooster died and my mom didn’t do any kind of necropsy. Hopefully your chicken just has an injury and it heals up soon!

This spot? These look unlikely to be from pecking to me. Are the affected birds eating and drinking normally? Have you noticed any smells or discharge? I would isolate them from the rest of the flock if you can until you have a better idea of what you're dealing with. It wouldn't hurt to thoroughly clean and disinfect your feeders and waterers too (even if it's not contagious it never hurts to clean those)

If you have mosquitoes out now, it might be fowl pox. That is a virus carried by mosquitoes, and lasts about a month. There is no treatment.

Some people apply Betadine 10% or Equate First Aid Disinfectant (from Walmart) to scabs to help dry them up. But don’t disturb scabs other than that since it can spread the virus. Here is some reading about pox:
