My coop is raised too, so I'm a little worried about cold sand in the coop even though that seems like the best way since it is the least amount of maintenance. I may try the deep litter method with pine shavings and see how that goes.

we were going to buy a hard plastic kiddie pool to put our sand and poultry dust in out i the run...is this ok??
