Umm so I’m not planning on incubating or hatching eggs for a looong time. I’m just wondering what “pip” and “zip” means. When I’m reading these incubating threads talking about “internal pips” or “zipping” I’m thinking “whaaat?”

So yeah pretty dumb but I’m more of a brooding chicks and taking care of adult chickens kind of person..

Thanks in advance!

(Oh yeah, please try to explain in English! Lol...)

Internal pipping is breaking the inner membrane to get into the airhole.
External pipping is breaking the shell.
Zipping is making a hole all around the shell so that the chick can shove its way out.

And not a stupid question, really. Everyone learns sometime.
