Yesterday afternoon, I noticed my copper maran was just laying in the yard by herself. Earlier that day she seemed active and staying with the rest of the flock roaming the yard. For the rest of the day she kind of just stayed by herself with her tail down and sounding like she had a stuffy nose. I thought she might have an impacted crop but her crop seems empty. Today she's laying by herself again with her tail down closing her eyes and still sounding like she has a stuffy nose. What could be the possibilities?

It sounds like an upper resp. infection. either infectious bronchitis (IB) or coryza, I would go to the feed store and get a broad spectrum antibiotic, like tetracycline- which you put in their water. Also, make sure that when giving an antibiotic you give a probiotic (like yogurt). I hope she gets better, I am dealing with a sick rooster right now and I know how upsetting it can be!

Thanks for the info. I have some left over antibiotics from a sick chicken from a while ago. I hope your rooster gets better.
