In the Brooder
Hallo! Ive been a loooong time lurker and joined last year, but havent posted till today (rooster with an ear issue I need advice on, posted in another area). Since Im crap with the introduction stuffs, Im using the "new member template" hehe
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have been keeping chickens for over a decade, so Im definitely not new to them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have hmmm... 16 roosters and 9 hens. Not all together, mind you! Most of the roos are in solo cages, but this spring I will be building a special, large set up for everyone so theyre move comfy. Right now, theyre all in my house in the bird room. None of these chickens were animals I got on purpose... most are from my stepfather who went chicken crazy a couple years ago and ended up with way too many. Im the designated Chicken Vet at our house, so these birds all came to me in various stages of illness and injury. Except for a few of my bantams who came from my solo bantam hen. She hatched them all by herself.
(3) What breeds do you have?
My standard sized birds are some kind of production breed from Tractor Supply. Some of the hens are golden, two are red and all my large roos are red. My bantams are a mix of Mille Fleur and who knows what. Theyre lots of fancy colors!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google! Where else?
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Knitting, crocheting, spinning, reading, cooking, dolls, dollhouses and about a million other things!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Im a stay at home, homeschooling mum and I have a few other critters - a dog, a cat, a pigeon, a cockatiel, a turtle, 4 sheep and 2 goats.
