Hello, the other 2 listless chickens passed away. It's been a minute, so I thought we were okay. All chickens have been eating and drinking normally. Then today, one of the new (less than a month here) Cochins is laying there listless, eye not opened, but still alive. I rushed her to the disinfected chicken hospital I have. Same exact symptoms only this one cannot stand up. We never lost any chickens until this new group was added. I do not know what to do. This one is not eating or drinking and was doing both last night. I saved the body of the mini Cochin that passed away on Monday. This is some sort of nightmare and I NEED to stop it asap. Please help!!! Symptoms of all: normal poop with some green/white in it, eyes not staying open, head drooping worse than chickens with wry neck, laying on its side, not eating or drinking with this one. I have been giving it fluids with a syringe. Gave it Poultry Cell as soon as I found it. Vets around here are for cattle and horses, so that isn't an option. T.I.A.

Yes, I have got to figure out what is causing this. The place where we bought these new ones made us make an appointment and all kinds of safety protocol. We never had one sick chicken before these arrived then all hell has literally hit. Central Texas
This mini Cochin died this week as well. Same pen. The other one was not in the same pen though. The only new one was this black one from today. Thank you

This could be a local disease such as avian flu or it might be something in the environment such as bad water or feed. Searching for clues depends on suspending preconceived ideas as to what could or could not be responsible. You need to search for anything and everything that might make a chicken sick.

I strongly suggest getting one of the most recent chickens to die to your state lab for testing. I can't find the phone number, but you should be able to with a little effort. Here is the main info on chicken testing. https://tvmdl.tamu.edu/tests/?species=avian

If you are lucky, you can drive the body to the lab and tell them you need the results the minute they finish the necropsy.

Thank you. I plan to do that for sure. I had a chicken with coccidiosis, and treated the entire flock. That was easy. Wry neck was easy. Not knowing is impossible. :/

I agree, it's time to get a necropsy and find out more.

In the meantime, what are you feeding?
Any food moldy?
How old are these chickens?
Photos of how they are housed, some clear photos of the birds and their poop would be good too.

Keep working on giving fluids, once hydrated, see if you can get a little wet soupy chick starter into them.
