SOS chicks all suddenly sick and dying!

I've had them on Purina grow and start medicated crumbles since I got them.

I'm getting the Corid after I get off work.
Please keep us posted on how it goes. I've not had any more issues since I switched to medicated feed with chicks, but it's my understanding that there are various strains of cocci and some may be more resistant. Also, a lot depends on the manufacturing, how old the feed is etc, though Purina is a good brand.

Thinking about you & your chicks!

Chicks need to be exposed to coccidiosis in their first 2 weeks of life so they can build immunity.
Feeding them medicated feed help them keep the symptoms under control while they are exposed to coccidiosis in early life.
Feeding them medicated feed without exposing them to coccidiosis is detrimental, because it's not only useless, but you build corid resistant strains of coccidia.
At this point, I'd treat with toltrazuril and vitamin k1, with urgency.
It's useful to have k1 vitamin in the first aid kit because it can be a life saver in all hemorrhagic diseases.

I was just asking about medicated feed because it may give clues on how to help, which is the goal here. Totally agree with you all but didn't mean to start an entirely different topic. 😄

Original poster should know by now or within the next day or so if the corid is working. Hopefully it is!
