SOS have a hurt baby goat!!!

We are in love! Cocoa is doing some better is actually standing up well on her own though she has to work for it. Talked to the goat lady on goat-link who I can't say enough nice things about! She emailed me back pronto! Switching her slowly but surely over to whole milk. Giving her baking soda just in case it upsets her stomach. Got her diarrhea turned around! Have her on bounce back which I'm slowly taking her off of. Calling the vet in the morning to see about getting her on Bo-se just in case it's WMD. She much more alert and playful today then hides in her hidey hole when she gets tired. I've been taking a scarf and putting in right in front of her hind legs to help hold her steady and taking some of her weight so she can build up her rear muscles. Keep your fingers crossed! I never thought I would feel this way about a "barn yard animal" but she is the sweetest little thing!

So glad everything is going good. You might also wamt to tgink about doing some physical therapy on that hind leg. Gentle bends and stretches to help so it doesn't become atrophied. Will probally also help loosen those joints up and get more movement in them. Just an idea. You are doing wonderful with her.

Oh I forgot to add that! We are doing that though I'm a little nervous about it.... Eeeekkk! I'm also putting her in a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel at night that she really likes to cuddle up and lay her " bad" leg on.

Bathing a goat? After her having diarrhea I've been wiping her with baby wipes but is that the best way to clean a goat?! She's in the house as you can see so the lady needs to be fairly clean! Any ideas?

That's what I did with my bottle baby while she was in the house. Baby wipes or wet washclothes with babyshampoo on them then rinse with more wet washclothes. I also used baby diapers on her when she was out of her pen because her favorite thing to do was chase the dogs then jump on couch and pee. I used size small diapers.

Dont be nervous about stretches. Goats are more durable than they look. Kinda like human babies. Look so frail but really durable.

Well that's what I will do then! ;) I don't have to worry about her getting on the furniture and I can usually tell when she has to go and I whip out a puppy pad! There are still accidents but not as baby as getting a new puppy for sure!

I've spent hours on google, this website, backyard herds, goat- link , you tube and a million different other websites researching late late into the night looks like I need to do some more reading up on stretches so I feel comfortable doing it!

When she's laying down id just simply extend her leg then push it back up to a flexed position multiple times. When I got goats I thought I had researched enough but that wasn't enough. I found talking to others who had actual hands on experience helped tons. Books are great to go by but goats can't read ; ) I really liked back yard herds. Everyone is very nice on there just like here. If you nwed advice on giving injections or trimming hooves pm me and I ll be more than glad to help. I'm by no means an expert on goats. Just going by my own experiances that allowed me to have happy, healthy goats.
